Hello, my friends! February has certainly been a wet, cold, muddy, snowy month! Mr. Groundhog told us to prepare for 6 more weeks of winter and it seems that he may be right! Amidst all of the messy weather, we have had a few golden days in which we were able to work on the greenhouse.
A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Tom (from Salt Yacht Brokerage in Rock Hall) and Dan, who spent several days designing and building the supports we needed to make the greenhouse stable. Weather permitting, we will FINALLY be able to put on the plastic on Saturday, February 22nd! If you are interested in volunteering - Saturday or any day in the future - we would be glad to have you! Fill out the volunteer section on our website and we will be in touch!

I also want to thank The American Legion Post 228 of Rock Hall, Twigs & Teacups of Chestertown, Riverside Unique of Chestertown, and The Home Depot of Middletown for their generous donations to Sandy’s Garden.
Thank you as well to everyone who supported our Valentine’s Day fundraiser at The Chestertown Farmers Market- we are raising money to build our apiary this spring! Bees are essential for a successful garden. As an added bonus, once the apiary is established, we can look forward to donating jars of honey to the food pantries!

Speaking of Valentine’s Day - a day about love - I would like to take a moment to remember the reason Sandy’s Garden was established - love, kindness, and caring for others. We may at times be overwhelmed and discouraged by what we hear on the news. We may feel that there is nothing that can be done to fix problems that are so big and so dark. This Valentine’s Day, take a minute to remember that good things DO happen. Love IS real. Never underestimate the difference you can make. When you can’t find the sunshine, be the sunshine.
To sunshine.
